World's 'Blue Zones'

Enjoying a healthy life style in general, the decades long research by Dan Buettner on the so called world's 'Blue Zones', where inhabitants tend to live (and in a good shape) to around 100 years old, could not escape my attention.

Now there is a new documentary series on the Blue Zones on Netflix based on Dan's book which is well worth watching! :)

I have so far visited one blue zone and cant wait to visit the rest in due course 💚

And how all this pertains to prostate?

The low incidence of prostate cancer in blue zones can be attributed to a combination of lifestyle and dietary factors that promote overall health and reduce hugely the risk of developing this particular type of cancer. Here see some of the reasons why prostate cancer is less common in blue zones:

  1. Dietary Patterns: Blue zone residents tend to follow plant-based diets that are rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and nuts. These diets are typically lower in saturated fats and red meat, which have been linked to an increased risk of prostate cancer. The emphasis on plant-based foods in blue zones provides a protective effect against prostate cancer development.

  2. Healthy Fats: The fats consumed in blue zones are often healthier, with an emphasis on sources like olive oil, which is rich in monounsaturated fats. These fats have been associated with a reduced risk of prostate cancer, compared to diets high in saturated and trans fats.

  3. Antioxidants and Phytochemicals: Blue zone diets are abundant in antioxidants and phytochemicals found in fruits and vegetables. These compounds help protect cells from damage, including the type of DNA damage that can lead to cancer.

  4. Regular Physical Activity: Blue zone residents tend to have active lifestyles, which can help maintain a healthy body weight and reduce the risk of developing prostate cancer. Regular exercise is associated with a lower risk of various cancers, including prostate cancer. You dont need to go to the gym if you dont like that. Even brisk walking is great! And you can always add listen to a nice audio book to it or simply walk in nature and listen to nature's orchestra :)

  5. Stress Reduction: Many blue zone communities prioritize stress reduction through practices like meditation, prayer, and social support. Chronic stress has been linked to inflammation and may contribute to cancer development, so stress reduction can play a role in reducing cancer risk. When you come to ProstateJoy for a prostate massage, we also let your tension and stress melt away while you are receiving a nice relaxing, therapeutic and sensual massage which is then followed by prostate stimulation. If not ready for your G-spot massage then we can do non prostate massage too 🤗

  6. Social Connections: Strong social connections in blue zones provide emotional support and contribute to overall well-being. Social isolation and lack of support can lead to unhealthy behaviors and may indirectly increase the risk of cancer.

  7. Lower Smoking Rates: Blue zone communities tend to have lower smoking rates, and smoking is a risk factor for several cancers, including lung and prostate cancer.

  8. Limited Alcohol Consumption: Blue zone residents often consume alcohol in moderation or abstain altogether. Excessive alcohol consumption has been linked to an increased risk of prostate cancer.

Overall, the combination of a plant-based diet, regular physical activity, stress reduction, and strong social connections contribute to a reduced risk of prostate cancer in these regions. Health is the biggest wealth and it is worth to take good care of our 'temple' - our body where we live - fuel it with quality food, good thoughts and good environment.
