'Let Food Be Thy Medicine'

Ian Marber, a well known British health writer and a respected and experienced nutrition expert known for his Food Doctor series, specialises in men's diet and his book Man Food recommends the following prostate healthy foods which contain nutrients which can reduce the risk of developing an enlarged prostate, inflammation and cancer or mitigate symptoms if you already have prostate issues.


Carotenoids and Vit C

Lot of veg sources namely old good tomatoes (cooked version have increased content of prostate cancer fighting lycopene) , pepper, guava, watermelon, sweet potato, pumpkin, spinach, apricots and a myriad of other red, yellow or orange colour fruits and veg.


Indole-3 carbinol and sulforphane

Found in cruciferous and selenium rich veg such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale, cauliflower.


Selenium

Mainly found in fish, nuts, button mushrooms, brown rice.


Catechins

Found in green, white and oolong teas so why not substitute the traditional black tea variety with flavonoids rich green tea spectrum


Vitamin D

Abundant in oily fish, egg yolks, portobello mushrooms


Isoflavones

Found in soya/tofu products of which the fermented is the best kind given easy on digestion


Ursolic acid

This is a chemical found in apple skins, rosemary and thyme studies have been showing to counteract enlarged prostate
